1 Who We Are

PayPeek ("we," "us," or "our") operates the PayPeek website and paycheck calculation tools available at paypeek.app. PayPeek is a free financial education service designed to help US employees understand their paychecks, tax deductions, and take-home pay.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of our service. By using PayPeek, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2 Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you use the PayPeek calculator, you may enter financial details such as salary, filing status, state, 401(k) contribution percentage, and health insurance premiums. This information is processed entirely within your browser and is never sent to our servers.

Email Address (Optional)

If you choose to join our early access list for upcoming tools, we collect your email address. This is entirely voluntary. We use it only to notify you when new tools launch — never for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

Automatically Collected Information

Like most websites, our servers automatically receive certain technical information when you visit, including:

• Your IP address (anonymised where possible)
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Pages visited and time spent
• Referring URL (how you found us)

This data is used solely for maintaining site security, performance monitoring, and understanding general usage patterns. It cannot identify you as an individual.

3 Financial Data You Enter

When you close or refresh the page, all entered data is cleared from memory. We do not use local storage, cookies, or any other mechanism to persist your financial information between sessions.

This design is intentional. Financial data is sensitive. We believe the only way to truly protect it is to never receive it in the first place.

4 How We Use Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

• Operate and maintain the PayPeek service
• Monitor site performance and fix technical issues
• Protect against security threats and abuse
• Send product update emails to subscribers (only if you opted in)
• Understand aggregate, anonymous usage patterns to improve the tools
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioural profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond operating the service.

5 Cookies & Analytics

PayPeek uses minimal cookies strictly necessary to operate the service. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party behavioural analytics cookies.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools (such as Vercel Analytics) to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are most useful. These tools collect anonymised, aggregate data only — individual users are not tracked or profiled.

If we add Google Analytics in the future, we will update this policy and provide an opt-out mechanism.

No Ad Networks

PayPeek does not currently display advertising. If we add advertising in the future, we will update this policy to describe any data practices associated with ad serving.

6 Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for their own commercial purposes. Period.

We may share limited information in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: We use trusted third-party services (such as hosting infrastructure on Vercel) to operate the site. These providers access only the data necessary to perform their function and are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
• Email delivery: If you subscribed to our mailing list, your email address is stored with our email service provider (e.g. Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or similar). That provider has its own privacy policy governing data handling.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business transfer: If PayPeek is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred. We will notify subscribers before this occurs.

7 Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, regular security monitoring, and access controls limiting who can access our systems. Our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) maintains SOC 2 compliance.

Because your financial data never leaves your browser, the primary attack surface for sensitive data is eliminated by design.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data in transit, but we take commercially reasonable measures to protect it.

8 Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data (e.g. email from our list)
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time via the link in any email
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format

PayPeek is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at privacy@paypeek.app and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify email subscribers directly.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of PayPeek after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
